What’s up, y’all! I’m Dr. Tomayia Colvin, and I am a beacon of light for photographers and creatives ready to expand beyond their wildest dreams. My business isn't just about education, though you’ll get that too; it's a community where photographers and creatives can come for support, mentorship, and real talk.

Being an entrepreneur sometimes means battling burnout or imposter syndrome. And I’ll be real: I’ve been right there with you, worrying about putting food on the table for my kids or that my car was about to be repossessed. One of my superpowers is that no matter how many times life knocks me on the behind, I get right back up, and I teach my clients to do the same. 

My resilient spirit comes from my grandparents, who raised me in their home in Texas, where I live today. I grew up surrounded by gallery walls filled with portraits, a physical reminder of my family’s rich history. It’s here, gazing into the faces of my ancestors in those photographs, that I realized the importance of preserving not only my Black family’s history but others. Throughout history, Black people didn’t have a chance to tell our stories. Instead, they were written by someone else. With my photography and coaching business, I help empower creatives from all backgrounds to share their personal history so we can all learn from it.

It’s the school teacher in me – I was an educator for decades before launching the photography business you see today. 

Through my masterminds and in-person events, I’ve created a space for creatives who have been often overlooked in the creative space. I got sick and tired of waiting for the those in charge to to invite me to their table, so I built my own. And now, all you have to do is pull up a seat. 

When I’m not working, you can find me learning to swim at my local pool (yes, at the age of 45!), playing pickleball, eating a delicious brunch of french toast and berries with my girlfriends, spending time with my children Grace and Ivory, or tending to my grandmother’s garden, which I will keep alive in her legacy.
