The Retreat- the why

Simply put, I wanted to use our photography as a way to make a difference in the world around us.

the cost

The cost to attend the retreat is $350 which includes a $150 administration and venue fee + a $200 donation made directly to one of the following organizations:

RAICES– “We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. With legal services, social programs, bond assistance, and an advocacy team focused on changing the narrative around immigration in this country, RAICES is operating on the national frontlines of the fight for immigration rights.”

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is “the leading national organization that works to ensure that no refugee or immigrant child faces immigration court alone. We provide them with high quality representation in their deportation proceedings. KIND promotes protection of children in countries of origin and transit countries and works to address the root causes of child migration from Central America. KIND also advocates to change law, policy, and practices to improve the protection of unaccompanied children in the United States, by educating policymakers, the media, and the broader public about the violence that is driving children out of Central America and their need for protection.”

Immigrant Families Together– dedicated to reuniting and supporting immigrant families separated at the US/Mexico border.

Ashley Canay is launching a project to support photographers of color. When the link becomes available, it will be posted.

the Location

Fort Lauderdale, Florida- The daily retreat activities will take place at a local AirBnB home similiar to this one.

the dates: June 12-15, 2020

Where do I Stay and sleep

You are welcome to book your own accommodations at a hotel or another AirBnB close by. The $350 does not include sleeping accommodations or flights.

what are we going to do all day?

We’ll have a few experts/speakers come in and chat with us on balance, healthy living, etc. And I’m sure some attendees will take in some rays at the beach.

Is this a photography workshop?

No, this is not a photography workshop. There are times in business when we need to recharge, reconnect, and refuel to grow and maintain our businesses. This a space to relax, talk goal setting with peers, content planning, work-life balance, do the things you’ve been putting off, or tojust take a break if need be. Your weekend- your space to kick back and relax.

Leave bae, the kids, and your laptop back home if you need some time alone. You don’t even have to bring your camera.

How many people can attend?

The retreat will be limited to 20 people.
